Hey Mike, just went through it with the Pace Car... ground it was, at the tank... little electrical connectro broke off... easy fix, new connector, drilled small hole in the rear valance and connected it back up... works great now...

Nah. My car is over at my bro-in-laws so I just cant "run out to the garage" or anything to check it. Its a 20 minute drive just to get there. Im heading out that way tomorrow though so I'll probably check it out then.

my car daytona 500 edition has the fuel gauge pegged past the F/Full mark as well. Is that a ground bad ground or bad sending unit?

I BELIEVE that means your ground wire has broken off (apparently pretty common) that's the black wire that comes over the top of the tank to a screw mounted on the tail panel with an internal toothed washer.  If that connection is missing/bad the sending unit won't work.  If that connection is there and is good, then the sending unit is likely bad.

Any time a fuel gauge pegs past full, it means that the gauge has lost the resistance to ground from the sending unit. Like others have said, it is most likely the sending unit ground. Other possibilities are a bad sender, a bad connection to the printed circuit on back of the gauge cluster, or a bad printed circuit.

this was fixed two years ago and it was a bad fuel pump sending unit
